Gone For Summer!

Hi guys, this will be the last post for quite a while as early tomorrow I will be heading north the NH for almost all of the summer. I'll be working as a camp counselor, and I'll be loving every minute of it. As I've said before, I'll still be working on my game, but I will be unable to post any new demos or updates. I should be finished by the end of summer though, so look forward to that. Well, I guess I'll be seeing you around.

Have a great summer everyone!

Demo 4.1

Yup, that's right, a new demo is out. Demo 4.1 includes a few minor bug fixes, but mainly contains script enhancements, especially in the way of edited Yanfly Scripts. Now things have been made right with those scripts, all the icons have been changed (thank god) and I've done a bunch of cool little things, like adding a help file, which explains the Monster Tag stuff, and some other stuff.

There are still a couple of possible issues...I'm waiting for someone to give me confirmation that they are fixed or not, so I'm not 100% sure. Jess is her own story, and I can't think of anyway to fix the equipment bug with her...not that it really changes anything, but it's still annoying.

This will be the last demo before the summer, and quite possibly the last demo ever. I believe that I can get a finished product during the summer. If I do finish, it will be released mid to late August. I just hope that I can finish it.

On the other hand, I'm beginning to break the writers block of hell. I've been doing actual story work, and its, for the most part, turning out well, although I made the game even bigger than expected...stupid dream worlds! Oh well, I've made a new playable character, and I'm sure that will make someone happy. (^_^)

See ya all soon.

Writer's Block

OK, so here's the truth, I've got a really bad writer's block going. It's actually been going on for a couple of months now, but these last few weeks have been especially bad. I can't do anything that requires creative energies. That includes RMVX, so yeah, nothing has been happening. I'm hoping that in a couple of weeks when I go to NH I'll break the block, but as of now, it doesn't look good.

On the bright side, this means I'm playing RPGs again, FFX at the moment. I really like that game, although you can't walk fast enough on those huge maps. I've also been watching some of my favorite anime recently. My mom and I just finished Scrapped Princess (which if you've never seen, buy it now! It is amazing, and does not get the prais it deserves) . Unfortunatly, these make me want to write, but I can't...oh well.

I'm happy happy happy too. And if you're wondering why, I don't care. I'm happy, and that's all I need to know. Yay!

New Demo out, and other stories.

So, lets get right into the main announcement, a new demo is out! Yay!!! Actually, its been out since last night, but I didn't post it in the blog right away. My bad. But know its open for anyone to play. So enjoy it! Also, I just want to say in case no one understands, you must have the RTP downloaded onto your system to play the game. There is a link to the RTP to the right.

In other news, I now have a forum in place to use for my team...when I get one. I mostly made it because I was bored, and wanted something to do. The forums are not open to the general public as of now though, because I'll be going up North soon, and I don't have much internet access up there...dial up and that's on rare occasions.

I also have a major writers block...still. Its one of the reasons that I haven't been very active with anything recently. Earlier, I was trying to write some dialouge for Felix, (soon to have a name change) and it was comming out like crap...not good to write emotional sceens when you can't write. I'm trying to get over this block, but I'm not sure how succesful I'll be.

Lastly, (wow, I've written a lot here...makes up for the 2 posts in May) I want to say that my computer has been running smoothly for three days straight. I just hope I didn't just jynx myself. My dad (who has become the family IT guy) updted a bunch of my drivers, especially some known faulty ones, and since then my computer has been running great.

So, I'll try to have a new demo out by the end of the month. I won't make any promises. It may just end up me making a demo 4b. There is one known major issues in demo 4, so this new demo would resolve that. I've also been doing a lot with scripts (I'm gonna marry Yanfly) recently, so a demo 4b would have a lot of new stuff with scripts...since that's about all I can do with a writers block like this. OK, this post is too long, and I'm gonna stop for now...I'll be posting more often again so bye!

Computer Probs a Myth?

Well, guess what happens when you boot your computer, it works. So, sorta forget about that last post, since there is absolutely nothing wrong with the computer, once again. I just hope that it stays that way.

So, I guess now would be a great time to talk about something else dealing with my game. Unfortunately, I've done nothing with it. I've been doing some random brainstorming, and basically planned out the second half of the game, but not any work done. I'm not expecting getting a lot done these next couple weeks, because the end of May is what can be described as HELL in my school. So, as school winds down, I'll be more an more busy. After school though, I promise to get a demo out before I leave for NH.

So, back to work. See you all around.

Computer Woes...

So, my computer is acting up again. Last night it would not boot up fully, or properly, so I'm not sure what's going on with it. Fortunatly I do have all my files backed up on an external hard drive, so If a reformating is necessary, I'll have everything I need. I'll lose some stuff, but nothing major...ugg.

So, the next couple of days may or may not see me very active. I'm gonna try to restore my computer from an earlier date, but I'm not sure if that is a perminant solution. We'll see. So, I hope this is finnished soon, and that I can once again continue working of TWoDF. Until later, I'll see you guys around I hope.

Remember to Make Backups!

Fortunately I didn't need to go that far, but after a hard reboot, I was glad I had a backup of The War of Dark Fires. So, ZBD here saying everyone must follow Grandma Deb's advice and MAKE BACKUPS.

My problem began with the editor saying that an unexpected file format was found. So, after replacing all the core files, (RGSS player, Game player, etc) it gave me the message that there was an error in the areas data. So I replaced that, which was easy since I don't have any areas. I'm lucky, if it had been any other piece of data, I would be in big trouble. I could have lost all my maps, or my database, or something else. That would have meant going back to the last demo put out, (which is actually demo4beta).

So, I thank God that nothing major was lost. Please, everyone who uses RMVX, remember to make backups so that you never have to worry about losing all your data.
